Memorial Weekend

This weekend was filled with lots to do! Friday the boys and I played outside. It was pretty hot, so I brought C's ducky tub out so he could cool off in it. He had fun for the few minutes he stayed in it! That night Brian and I went to Freedom Weekend Aloft and saw 2 of my favorite 90s bands...Tonic and the Gin Blossoms! We got to stand right at the stage and had such a blast!

Tonic, right before they played my fav song :)

Gin Blossoms
Saturday my SIL Helen and niece Mia came into town for a few days! Brian and I had a wedding to go to, so they watched the boys! We had a date 2 nights in a row...don't think that has EVER happened!! The wedding was on Lake Lyman at the Acanthus and was SO beautiful. We saw a few friends and had some awesome food. It was another great night!

I caught them having a moment away from everyone...so sweet :)

The Acanthus

Sunday we had my other SIL Susan, Harold and Kelly, my In-Laws, my sister and Uncle Jin and Aunt Sonya over for lunch. Thanks to Helen we had a wonderful beef tenderloin and Susan brought sweet corn from her garden...it was all amazing! We had a wonderful time and got to celebrate Kelly's birthday a little early. She was SO excited. That night Helen, Mia and I went to the movies. I got out 3 nights in a row...that probably won't happen again for another year or so ha!

They had a blast together!

Sweet B

Helen and I

Today Brian and I spend the entire day with the boys. I had promised B I would get his toy story pool out, so that's what we did! C played in it some too. It was HOT! Bri and I lounged around and tried to recover from the long weekend when the boys napped. That didn't last long ha! We played outside almost all day...not sure how I'm gonna make it through the summer in this heat! Before C went to bed Bri played his guitar...C LOVES this! I got a sweet pic of them! Hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend :)

My poor child is so tiny his trunks kept falling off!

lunch time

lunchable time ha!

Love it!

Greek Festival 2011

Last weekend we went to the Greek Festival with my In-Laws. B had a great time at the kids area! We rode some rides, got a few balloons, and ate some great food! C had fun watching us in the stroller ha!

B is 3.5!

Brooks turned 3.5 on May 20th! I can't believe how fast he is growing up. He is such a sweet boy and is so full of energy. He has a great group of friends he loves to play with, but also plays really well  independently. He is obsessed with Thomas the Train (we have a trip planned to see him this summer :) and has started to really like dinosaurs. He's ALL boy, but can be super sweet and loving. He's the best big brother C could have ever asked for! B is so loving toward C and plays with him a lot. So glad God blessed us with him :)

Last Week of School

This is the last week of school for the year. It really flew by! Next year B will be in K3 and C will be in PDO. I can't believe how fast he's growing up. On Thursday his teachers invited us to stay for a few minutes after dropping them off to see them say their Bible verse. They stood in a row and said it (Zephaniah 3:17) and had hand motions to go along with it. They did a great job and I was SO proud! Afterward they did a little hand game for us. I took pictures, but forgot to video them. So yesterday they did it again and I got some videos. They're all just too cute and I'm so thankful B has such awesome teachers. We will miss Ms. Lisa and Ms. Brenda, but in no time C will be in their class (yay!). Here are a few pics I took from the last week, plus the videos. Enjoy!

Swimming Lessons

Brooks started swimming lessons last week. They were Mon-Thurs for 2 weeks only. I have been a little worried about having 2 kids at the pool with me all summer and thought swimming lessons would be a great idea. B can build some water confidence and I won't be so paranoid. Well, it backfired on me! The first day he was a little nervous, but got in the water and did what the teacher asked him to do. He held onto the wall and kicked his feet, and laid on the noodle float and kicked around the pool. I thought, this is awesome, I'm so proud! Well, toward the end, he got outta the pool and would not go back in. We went home and talked about why he was scared. He was afraid he would sink, so I asked him if he saw anyone sink today and he said no. I told him that the teacher, lifeguard, and most of all mommy, would never let him sink. He said ok, and would get back in. So days 2 and 3 were not so good. He would only sit by the side of the pool and never got in. I tried bribing him (he usually won't take them), but at the end of day 3 he took the bait. He wants a new engine for his Thomas track (Henry), so I told him if he gets in and swims, he can have him. (I've been holding on to this train for 3 months, waiting for the perfect time to give it to him). I wasn't sure if I should push him because in my experience in doing that with him, it always blows up in my face. The bribe had to work! It was now day 4 and he wouldn't get in the pool, so with the help of the teacher, at the end i tossed him into her. He screamed bloody murder the entire minute he was in with her. He never went under and she held his hands while he kicked. After he got out he said "I did it! I can have my Henry now!!" GREAT (I thought sarcastically)! We went home and he got his Henry. He talked about swimming all weekend and we even practiced in my garden tub. I thought for sure he was ready and it can only get better. Boy was I wrong! That next week he progressively got more scared and would scream every time we got anywhere near the pool. I got him to sit on the side beside me twice and that was as far as we got. He never got back in, and after he successfully talked a big game everyday about how he was gonna get in, then never did, I gave up. He ended up being more scared of the pool than he has ever been. I bought a puddle jumper for him to wear for the summer and am just gonna do A LOT of praying for patience (for me) and confidence (for him). We'll see what the summer brings, but I'm not setting any expectations anymore...they only get you into trouble! I've posted 2 pics of him the 1st day he actually got in HA!

Carson @ 8 months!

C turned 8 months this past Wednesday. Wow how time flies! Here's what he's been doing this month:

  • Is still army crawling and into EVERYTHING!
  • Can get up on all 4's and rock back and forth, but not quite crawling that way yet
  • Is eating puffs all by himself!
    • Doesn't have the pincher grasp down perfectly, but he finds a way to get them in his mouth because he's obsessed with puffs!
  • Graduated from a size 2 to a size 3 diaper HA! (he's still a little peanut)
  • Can say "MaMa" which was his 1st word! I was super excited about that!
    • He babbles a lot and it sounds like he says "Bubba" or "BaBa" when he sees Brooks :)
    • He sometimes says "DaDa"
    • Says "Mmmmm" when he eats HA!
  • Is eating 3 meals a day with us, plus gets juice and puffs for a snack.
    • I started making my own baby food and it freezes well and is SO much cheaper! And the best part is he loves it :)
  • Takes 2-3 naps a day. Here's his sleeping schedule:
    • Days Brooks doesn't have school and no playgroups, he will take 3:
      • 9/9:30am for about 1hr
      • 1pm for 1/5hr-2 hrs
      • 4/4:30pm for 30-45min
    • Days B has school and playgroups he takes 2:
      • 11am for 1-2.5hrs
      • 3:30pm for 1-1.5hrs
      • He will also sleep on the go some
    • Bedtime is 7:30
  • His eating schedule:
    • 7:30/8am 8oz bottle
    • 9:30/10:30am solids
    • 11:30/12 6-8oz bottle
    • 2:30pm solids
    • 3:30/4pm 4-6oz bottle
    • 6pm solids

  • B and C can actually play together now! They have the best time and B keeps C laughing the whole time :)

    A Few Firsts

C can now pick up his puffs and put them in his mouth! He is obsessed with them and loves that he can pick them up now!

C also had his first lawn mower ride! He loved it and rode around with Brian for about 15 minutes :)

    Baby John Turned 1

One of my best friends son, John, turned 1yr this past week. She threw him a great party! She got J a water table and that's where most of the kids played. B got soaked, but I knew to bring extra clothes! C even stood up and played at it. Of course I would forget to take pics of that, but did take some of C and his buddies :) We had great food and conversation. It made me realize that I will be throwing C's 1st birthday party in 4 short months! Time has flown by too quickly.

C and Bradley (who is 1 today!)

C and John, the birthday boy!

After naps, B convinced me to get his water sink out...so I did. He had the best time playing in it while I took C for a ride in the wagon. I love afternoons like that :)

    Always smiling :)
